Day Tripping to Davao Oriental

A friend invited us to join them to visit their place at Davao Oriental.  We started very early and since it was my first time to travel in that part of Davao, we were very excited.  The long trip was boring at first but when we started heading the Coastal Road the beautiful view appeared in front of us.

The trip lasted for four hours, the private resort of our friend is in Magdug.  The beach is clean and has gray sands with tiny pebbles.  When we reached the place, we started putting up tents right away, others started cooking and the young ones run to the cool waters and started swimming.  I love the beach and the sunset.

The following day, we started early as planned so we can explore more places and most specially we wanted to see the "Parola", the lighthouse in Lavigan called the Cape of San Agustin.  The road was not easy,   the steep narrow road is muddy, rocky, and with cliffs on one side made us decide to walk instead  with the heat of the sun, we still have the time to share jokes, pose and laugh.

But when we reached our mission, the feeling was really great. The place was really beautiful, the view, the virgin white sand resort you can see from the top of the lighthouse they call the virgin white sands of Lavigan, the Celebes Sea and Davao Gulf.

There are three lighthouses there, the oldest has stairs and easily to climb because it is not very tall, i guess it is 50 ft tall and the second lighthouse looks like an umbrella and maybe 75 ft tall and the new tallest lighthouse could be a 100 ft tall.

And there was that place beside the lighthouse going down to the beach where the view is fantastic.  We had only few hours to explore the place. The young ones had the hard time climbing back where we waited for them, but they were happy to see what is under those lighthouses.

There are plenty of white beaches and places ready to be explored in Davao Oriental.  Our only problem was there were no gasoline stations after Barangay Tibanban.  So if you wanted to visit the last few barangays of Davao Oriental you must bring gallons of diesel as only bottled gasoline are available in those places.
